A BÓIA – Fresh seafood, with a backdrop of the beautiful sand beach of Salema.
Andorinha Do Mar Café Organico – Here, they take the environment seriously. This organic restaurant serves exclusively vegan and vegetarian options, some of them also available as gluten-free. Adjacent to the restaurant is a no waste shop. Just bring your own containers!
O Lourenço – A simple but charming family-run restaurant, where fresh fish is king. Tip: book your table well in advance.
Aventura Bar: A small bar, with an English vibe. The owners love to experiment with cocktails, for example by adding juniper or herbs in the mix.
Spice Cottage: Feeling adventurous? Spice Cottage is authentic Indian cuisine in the heart of Salema, and listed as the number 1 restaurant in Salema.

YOUR TIME IN SALEMA

Walk in the footsteps of giants. Yes, really! First discovered in the 1990’s, several dinosaur tracks have been identified at Salema. For the experts: it’s believed the footprints belonged to a type of Ornithopod, an herbivorous dinosaur. Find them on the rocky shores to the right-hand side of Salema Beach.
Salema Eco Camp: worth a visit for their markets and live music concerts.
Visit the Forte de Almáda, a ruin of the once impressive fortress stands at the edge of cliff. Although there’s not much left, with a little imagination you can see how the guards kept watch for pirates and other thugs. Lacking the imagination? The view alone is worth the climb, trust us.

DAILY LIFE IN SALEMA

Salema is the perfect town to enjoy an authentic Algarvian lifestyle, away from busy city life. It’s peaceful, serene and laid-back. Salema has two small supermarkets, and one deli store. In town, you’ll also find a pharmacy. For larger supermarkets, hospitals and schools, a car ride to neighbouring larger cities such as Lagos is needed.
